Find out why some bands sound great and others do not!

Instructors: Ivan Hampden, Master Percussionist & Recording Artist and Jonathan Eggleston, Guitar Instructor

Play all styles of music: Rock, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Country, Classical, Latin, Reggae, and more…

Once a week selected students will meet to perform music that they work on at home and with their individual instructors. Students must know how to read music and must be strong instrumentalists and currently studying with an instructor in The Academy.

There will be different groups based on the level of musicianship:
  • Introductory Group: New players interested in ensemble playing.
  • Music-moderate level. Introduction to world music.
  • Intermediate Group: Advanced players – Transcribing music, improvising, and performing pieces to challenge the musical abilities.
“A musical piece is like a theatrical play. Each musician has a role and must stay in character throughout the piece. The star is the singer or soloist. Everyone else is there to support and enhance the performance through his or her own performance.” Ivan Hampden, Jr.

Purposes of the class: to perform with a group; to be a “team player;” to heighten listening skills; to be exposed to music from around the world
