Homeschool General Music

For nine years Neighborhood Academy of Music has offered homeschool classes, beginning with general music in 2001. In 2002 the homeschool band was formed, and in 2006 the vocal ensemble began. A new offering for the 2009-2010 school year: homeschool art classes.

General Music. Singing, moving to music, and playing rhythm instruments fill the general music class. Students read beginning notation as they learn to play the recorder, a pre-band instrument. Grades K-4

Voice Class/Ensemble. Learn to sing with confidence and in healthy ways, using the air stream and vocal cords correctly. Voice lessons also provide the opportunity to develop your natural talent. Grades 2-6

Band. In band, students choose an instrument to play among the woodwinds and brasses: trumpet, French horn, trombone, clarinet, flute, or saxophone. Learn in the class how to read music, produce the pitches on your instrument, and play in a band! Grades 5-12

Art. Young artists learn the basics and wonder of art. Various media such as colored pencil, charcoal, acrylic paint and watercolor will be the tools to bring the young art student's creativity into being. Grades K-12
