Improvisation Made Simple for the Church Pianist
Based upon doctoral research -- and just
released!
- Can you perform hymns on the piano as notated?
- Do you encounter difficulty when attempting to embellish or "add on" to hymns?
Then this hymn improvisation method is for you!
"Improvisation Made Simple for the Church Pianist" is a basic method focusing on
the two foremost skills used in hymn improvisation: Traditional hymn style
improvisation and fill-in improvisation. Highly kinesthetic, the method will
show you how to play in traditional hymn style, adding fill-ins on sustained
chords.
This first volume only uses hymns in the keys of C, G, and F; therefore, the
method provides an excellent introduction to expanding the written hymn score
for intermediate to advanced level students. Future publications will include
other keys.
