Dr. Christine Rogers, Ph.D. Music Education, is owner and director of Neighborhood Academy of Music. She taught music in the public schools for 10 years, including middle school band, elementary general music, and choral groups in high school. For the past 8 years she has taught in colleges and universities, most recently serving as Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her doctoral dissertation involved teaching piano improvisation for hymns.

Ivan Hampden has performed with some of the biggest artist in the music industry, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Jennifer Lopez, Joe, Stevie Wonder, Nile Rogers & Chic, Vanessa Williams, Cosby Stills & Nash, India Arie, Al Jerreau, & Bonnie Raitt to name a few. Ivan also appears on Beyonce Knowles' CD "Dangerously In Love" and the Luther Vandross CD "Dance With My Father".

Jonathon has played the guitar for many years and has studied diverse styles of music: blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, fusion, heavy metal, Flamenco, and Brazilian jazz. He has had numerous experience playing with other musicians in bands and as a solo performer in weddings, church services, and other special occasions. Jonathon owns nearly thirty guitars ranging in price from $100 to over $7,000. For the past five years he has dedicated himself to learning the classical guitar, and is currently seeking a major in performing classical guitar. He plans to transfer to East Carolina in the fall of 2005 to further his studies.

Karen is a dedicated educator and lover of music who brings her enthusiasm to voice students and Kindermusik classes at the academy. Karen received her bachelor's degree in music (vocal performance) from Colorado Christian University, and has completed graduate work in special education from the University of San Francisco. She has worked for a number of years as a special educator with Johnston County schools, and is a certified Kindermusik instructor.
