Hire a music instructor who can provide your child with the attention he or she needs. When you need help in nurturing your child’s musical talents, turn to Neighborhood Academy of Music. We offer individual music lessons and homeschool music classes in Clayton, NC and the surrounding areas.
Neighborhood Academy of Music has offered homeschool classes, beginning with general music in 2001. In 2002, we formed a homeschool band which was comprised of some of our talented homeschooled students, and in 2006, our vocal ensemble was formed. Homeschool art classes were also added to our curriculum for the year 2009 to 2010. In 2015, we introduced a new homeschool violin class.
Voice lessons provide the opportunity to develop the students’ natural talent in singing. Children in Grades 2 to 6 will be taught how to sing with confidence and in healthy ways, using air stream and vocal cords correctly. We also offer Homeschool Singers Workshop for students in Grades 4 to 8. Meeting is early-afternoon every Wednesday.
In band, Grades 5 to 12 students are allowed to choose an instrument to play. However, a band instrument is needed in order to participate in the program. They can choose either from woodwinds or brasses: tuba, trumpet, French horn, trombone, clarinet, flute, or saxophone. They are also taught in class how to read music, produce pitches using their instruments, and play in a band. The band meets for 45 minutes weekly.
In this particular class, young artists are taught the basics and wonders of art. Students are exposed to a variety of media to bring out their hidden creativity. These include colored pencil, charcoal, acrylic paint, and water color. The program is offered for children in kindergarten to Grade 12.
Providing musical instruction is important for elementary and middle school students who are homeschooled if they intend to enter public school and play in the band. Let us help you enhance your child’s talent and build his or her confidence. Call us at 919-359-6105 to enroll in a homeschool class
